How to Get Your Florida Real Estate License (Step-by-Step)

Step 1: Complete the Required 63-Hour Pre-Licensing Course

The first step to becoming a licensed real estate agent in Florida is completing the state-required 63-hour pre-licensing course. This course covers everything you need to understand Florida real estate law, contracts, property ownership, financing, and professional practices. The course prepares you not only to pass the state exam but also to confidently begin your career as an agent.

Step 2: Pass the Florida Real Estate State Exam

After completing the course, you’ll need to pass the Florida real estate state exam. Magnolia School of Real Estate promotes a 99.5% pass rate for students who complete their course, and that preparation made a huge difference for me. I was able to pass the exam on my first attempt because the course covered exactly what I needed to know.

Many students also choose to take an exam cram or prep course right before the exam to reinforce the key concepts and increase confidence.

Step 3: Apply for Your License and Start Your Career

Once you pass the state exam, you can apply for your Florida real estate license and begin working with a brokerage. At this point, you’ll be able to legally represent buyers and sellers and start earning commissions.

Real estate offers flexibility, unlimited earning potential, and the ability to build your own business. Completing the required course and passing the exam is the most important first step.
